How do I get the studies?

This is explained in the section of the homepage entitled "Getting the Learning to Live studies".  Click here to go to that section.  If it still isn't clear after reading that section again please email us with your query.

I have made a donation or emailed a request and still haven't got the studies.  Why?

The only reason I can think of why this has happened is because the webmaster is on holiday or ill (this website is a voluntary project, and we do not have employees).  Even if that is the case you should have had an email to tell you that your donation or request has been received.  Please wait for a further two weeks and if you still haven't got the studies please email us again.

Why do you ask for a £5 donation?

A lot of preparation has gone into making these studies and there is also a significant cost to set up and maintain this website.  The £5 is not expensive when you consider that it allows you to make unlimited copies of the studies.

Who is behind Learning to Live?

The studies are written and formatted by Dr Paul B Coulter.  He is Associate Pastor with Belfast Chinese Christian Church and is also involved in a number of other ministries.  You can find out more about him at his personal website: www.paulcoulter.net.

What Bible version is used in the studies?

The studies are based on the New Living Translation of the Bible (published by Tyndale House Publishers) because they were prepared for people whose first language is not English.  However, they could also be used with other Bible versions, for example the New International Version.

What theological position do the studies represent?

This is not a simple question to answer.  The studies reflect the theology of the author, Dr Paul B Coulter.  He is a Bible-believing evangelical Christian who believes that personal repentance and faith is necessary for salvation.  The following terms might be helpful to describe the studies:

bulletEvangelical - for an explanation of what this means please see the basis of faith of the UK Evangelical Alliance: http://www.eauk.org/about/basis-of-faith.cfm.
bulletBible based - these studies assume that the student is committed to the authority of the Bible as the basis for their  belief and practice.
bulletEternal security - these studies take the view that once a person has truly repented and trusted in Christ and has been regenerated by the Holy Spirit their salvation is eternally secure.
bulletCalvinist / Arminian? - the studies do not express either position strongly, leaving room for the teacher to express their own view, except on the question of eternal security, which the author believes to be a core gospel issue.
bulletNon-Pentecostal - the author does not hold a Pentecostal position as regards the Holy Spirit.  The studies teach that the Spirit is received at conversion and indwells every true believer in Christ.
bulletCharismatic? - the studies do not discuss the gifts of the Spirit most closely associated with the Charismatic movement (namely tongues, prophecy and miraculous healing), leaving room for the teacher to express their own views.

If you have another question about the theology of the studies please email us.  Please do not email just to express disagreement with the position outlined above.
